National Graduate Tracking Mechanism

The National Graduate Tracking Mechanism (CYGraduates) will be collecting high-quality data on an annual basis from all graduates of Higher Education Institutions in Cyprus regarding their professional lives and lives as citizens after completing their education and training in Higher Education.

Specifically, the National Graduate Tracking Mechanism will collect data each year from two groups of graduates at levels 5, 6 and 7 of the National Qualifications Framework: (a) graduates one year after their graduation (T+1) and (b) graduates five years after their graduation (T+5). The data is collected through an online questionnaire in two languages (Greek and English) regarding graduates’ experiences during their studies in Higher Education, the teaching and learning methods used in the context of their studies, the skills they acquired, participation in international mobility and experiences of entering the labor market.

The development of CYGraduates is expected to contribute in:

  • accessing high-quality data regarding graduates’ professional and social trajectories after completing their studies in Higher Education, which will be comparable to averages at national and European level,
  • providing better career counseling and guidance to secondary and higher education students,
  • revising existing programs of study of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and in their better interconnection with the needs of the labor market,
  • designing and offer of new programs of study or new more flexible programs (e.g., micro-credentials) with the aim of reskilling and upgrading skills (upskilling).

A total of five data collection cycles (2022-2026) will take place in the context of the project “Development of a National Graduate Tracking Mechanism and Design and Implementation of an Employers’ Skills Survey”.
